During the discussion, Mr. Somboon highlighted the unprecedented investment opportunities emerging from the global energy transition:

“The world will need more than USD 275 trillion to achieve Net Zero by 2050. This massive flow of capital will create opportunities at every level—clean-energy projects, innovative start-ups, and entirely new national economies over the next two to three decades. That means we can build a future for at least one entire generation.

Look at China: just ten years ago it was only beginning to enter the global solar market, and only five years ago it became a net exporter of EVs. Today these products are dominated by China. Thailand may not have the same captive demand or export scale to compete head-to-head in technology, but we must define the role our nation will play in this global energy transformation—working together to create benefits for the planet, the country, our people, and our organizations.”

Dr. Teerapon outlined CP Group’s ambition to reach Net Zero and the company’s five key transformations—Transparency, Market Mechanism, Leadership & Talents, Empowerment, and Innovation & Technology—to accelerate carbon reduction across its entire supply chain.

He emphasized the deployment of digital technologies—including AI, sensors, big data analytics, and traceability systems—across upstream, midstream, and downstream operations in agriculture and industry to enhance efficiency, reduce emissions, and strengthen safety. Examples include the adoption of clean energy solutions, pollution-reduction measures, and EV charging infrastructure.

Dr. Teerapon concluded with a vision for the next decade of smart, sustainable industry, stressing that organizations must start measuring and setting clear targets today in order to secure a resilient and sustainable future for the environment, society, and business alike.
